Adams Wildlife Sanctuary

Preserved by the Illinois Audubon Society, the 30-acre Wildlife Sanctuary allows visitors to experience hands-on activities and learn about the interdependence of plants, animals and themselves.

Henson Robinson Zoo

More than 300 animals -- including spider monkeys, river otters and an Asiatic black bear -- call Henson Robinson Zoo home. Concessions, gift shop and children's petting area available.

Located on the shores of Lake Springfield and designed by landscape architect Jens Jensen, Lincoln Memorial Garden re-creates the Midwest landscape that Lincoln would have known -- a rich mosaic of mature upland woods and lowland forests, interspersed with sunny openings of Illinois prairie wildflowers. Six miles of trails are open sunrise to sunset.

Admission: Free
The botanical garden contains 9,000 square feet of greenhouse area and a conservatory that houses more than 150 species of tropical plants. A variety of gardens surround the conservatory.
